 How do we make music selections or add new songs?
Each Week Joy FM makes a decision on what new music to play. Not only do we receive new songs from Christian record labels, we also receive cds from local artists. Most weeks we have 15-20 new songs and only 1-2 open slots.
The following is the Joy FM "New Music" policy:
- Does it fit our music format? We are a Christian adult contemporary radio station.
- Do the production values of the new songs match the current songs on Joy FM?
- Is the cd available for purchase by the Joy FM listeners?
- Can you find it at local Christian bookstores, record Stores, Walmart, etc.?
- Does the song fit the current musical needs of Joy FM (style, tempo, etc.)?
- Does the song match the overall mission of Joy FM, "Helping You Live the Life?"
If a song meets these criteria, then it will be considered for airplay. As you can see, not every song we receive gets airplay.
